HCLFoundation and UP government to collaborate for sustainable cities
HCLFoundation, which drives the corporate social
responsibility agenda of HCLTech in
India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Urban Development
Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, to further the government’s vision of
advancing sustainable waste management practices across Hardoi, Prayagraj and
Agra in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission.
HCLFoundation
and Urban Development Department will collaborate on strategic planning, pilot
projects, policy and process reforms and the deployment of IT-enabled solutions
to improve waste management systems across the three cities.
In the
latest initiative under HCLFoundation’s My Clean City program, 10 E-drain carts
and 10 E-garbage loaders donated by HCLFoundation to the Hardoi Nagar Palika
Parishad were flagged off and three reverse vending machines were unveiled.
HCLFoundation has also undertaken city beautification in Hardoi through wall
art and plans to develop three markets and three wards in the city as model
markets and model wards.
“My Clean
City is a citizen-led program aimed at reclaiming urban spaces with a focus on
technology inclusion and innovative solutions. This partnership with
the Urban Development Department, U.P., will further strengthen our
efforts, especially in Agra, Hardoi and Prayagraj—three new cities to which we
expanded the program in FY26,” said Alok Varma, Project Director, Samuday and
My Clean City, HCLFoundation.
Anuj Kumar
Jha (IAS), Secretary, Urban Development Department and State Mission Director,
Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Government of Uttar Pradesh, said “The
Department envisions building cleaner, healthier, and sustainable cities across
the state through collaborative action. This partnership with HCLFoundation
brings together institutional strength and implementation expertise which will
help accelerate urban sanitation efforts, strengthen waste management practices,
and create innovative models that will inspire urban transformation in Agra,
Hardoi and Prayagraj.”
Launched in
2018, My Clean City
(MCC) is a flagship program of HCLFoundation redefining urban
sanitation in Noida and Greater Noida through science-led waste management and
strong community participation. Through My Clean City program, nearly
750,000 citizens have been sensitized on positive waste behavior; 100,000+
stakeholders have been trained on waste management practices; 22,000+ tons of
waste have been managed; and over 3,500+ school students have been engaged
through the MCC Waste Champions Club.
