HCLTech To Create 5,000 Jobs Through New Odisha Tech Centre
HCLTech is set to establish a new Global Technology Centre
in Bhubaneswar, with the facility expected to create employment opportunities
for around 5,000 professionals as Odisha seeks to deepen its presence in
India's fast-growing technology and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The
company has partnered with the Odisha government on the initiative, which is
expected to become operational by 2028. The centre will work on AI-led and
digital technology solutions for global businesses, while also creating a
larger base for technology talent in the state.
Beyond
direct hiring, the project is expected to support the development of a wider
local talent ecosystem. HCLTech plans to work with educational institutions and
other stakeholders to strengthen the skills pipeline and prepare professionals
for emerging technology roles.
The
centre will form part of a broader technology push in Odisha, alongside plans
for an AI data centre in Bhubaneswar being developed through a partnership
involving HCLTech, Sarvam AI and the state government. The data centre project
has a proposed investment of around ₹14,257 crore.
The
twin initiatives could give Odisha a larger role in India's AI and digital
infrastructure landscape, while creating new avenues for skilled employment and
technology-led workforce development.
For
HCLTech, the Bhubaneswar centre also reflects a broader industry shift towards
building technology hubs beyond established metropolitan markets, allowing
companies to tap into emerging talent pools while expanding their capacity in
areas such as AI, cloud and digital engineering.
